Math competition
On November 3rd, 2012, a Saturday morning, Paragon Science Academy hosted a math competition for elementary graders. There were many different schools that participated in the competition, and we decided to take advantage of this opportunity to tell all the participants about the FTC competition. We were given 45 minutes to give 4 presentations, each about Jr. FLL, FLL, FTC, and FRC. Not only were there students in our audience, but parents were present too. It was our first official Outreach, and it was definitely a great day.
ASU Scrimmage event
On December 8th, 2012, another Saturday morning, there was a scrimmage FTC event at ASU. The event was from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm, and there were many teams present. Sadly, we did not have our robot with us to test and could not participate, but it was a great experience. We spoke to three LEGO teams who were from elementary school and explained to them the concept of FTC there. We also watched other teams try test runs on the field that was set up there, and talked to different teams about their robot design. We got all the teams who participated to sign our Engineering Notebook while talking as well. Though we couldn't test our robot, it was a good opportunity to go to the event.
OPEN House
On March 7th, Paragon Science Academy held an open house at the middle and high school campus. We introduced our robot, demonstrated how it worked, and showed off our robotics room. Mr. Paul, Zade, and Adam were the only ones present, because it was a Thursday evening and most of us were unavailable at that time, but we did our best to take advantage of the opportunity to reach out to the community. We also showed a few kids how to drive the robot and let them run a test drive, which caused lots of excitement. It was great to get the kids interested in our robot, and seeing them so active with robotics was absolutely amazing!
If you would like us to come explain FTC to your group, contact us! We'd love to talk to you guys. :)
